Top Places You’ll See
From natural wonders to authentic local culture, the route is packed with memorable sights—these are our absolute favorites.

Roskilde
Just west of Copenhagen, Roskilde Cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the burial church of Danish kings and queens. Nearby, the Viking Ship Museum displays five original ships recovered from the fjord, giving you an up-close look at Denmark’s seafaring past. Together, they make Roskilde one of the most historically rich stops on any cycling route.

Copenhagen
Denmark’s capital is one of the most bike-friendly cities in the world, where more bikes than cars fill the streets. You can ride to highlights like Nyhavn waterfront district, the Little Mermaid statue, or cross the city on its famous bike highways and bike bridges such as the Cykelslangen (Cycle Snake). Copenhagen combines history, design, and modern Nordic lifestyle in one vibrant package.

Kronborg Castle
This Renaissance castle on the coast is world-famous as the setting of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kronborg Castle is a highlight of North Zealand and can be reached by a scenic coastal ride from Copenhagen. Its dramatic location at the entrance of the Oresund makes it one of Denmark’s most iconic landmarks.

Frederiksborg Castle
Inland from Helsingør lies Frederiksborg Castle, the largest Renaissance castle in Scandinavia. Surrounded by lakes and baroque gardens, it houses the Museum of National History with centuries of Danish art and portraits. Cycling to Frederiksborg means entering a fairy-tale setting where architecture, culture, and landscape come together.

Stevns Klint
South of Copenhagen lies Stevns Klint, a 15 kilometers-long chalk cliff and UNESCO World Heritage Site. It preserves the geological layer that marks the asteroid impact, which wiped out the dinosaurs 66 million years ago. Cycling along its edge gives you panoramic sea views and a direct link to Earth’s history.

From the very beginning, the Cycling Holidays Austria team have been amazing. They provided a flexible service that met our specific needs and journey itinerary, which a good number of other providers would not entertain. The speed of reply was excellent and the use of the Trip Plans and Cycle with GPS apps just made our journey so easy. The quality of the rental bikes was excellent and they easily met the demands of the cycle track. Overall, excellent friendly service that we will definitely use again next year as we plan our continued trip along the stunning Danube River. Huge thanks to the team.

Our entire cycling experience in Slovenia exceeded our expectations. The initial information that we received was clear and precise and helped us make the decision to come and cycle in this beautiful country. The ongoing service from Cycle Slovenia staff was timely and couldn’t be faulted. This was an amazing cycle adventure in a beautiful, charming country. I definitely recommend Cycle Slovenia to provide you with a memorable cycle experience
It was a very well designed trip- Slovenia is such a beautiful country. The routes were very well planned, including the hotels. Rental bikes were amazing, they accommodated our specific requirements. I would highly recommend and would certainly go back with the same company. One small thing we ran into was not getting a quick response on one of the days where we wanted some options as it was going to rain and we wanted to see if there are alternates to getting to our next location incase we couldn’t ride. We understand it was a last minute request and after hours but an acknowledgement would have been appreciated- specially when you are new to the country and need help. Like I said it was a minor thing, therefore I’m passing along my feedback. Overall they very responsive during planning and suggesting options and providing support outside the cycling trip. Lan is awesome and super helpful- thank you!!
Great trip: excellent customer service, great route, excellent hotel stays during the tour. The bike rental company that they use is the best I've ever experienced in Europe. I am even planning to buy the same bike for myself at home that I had on the trip! We had this service also book our stay for after the tour, and that is the only thing I would do differently next time, since the hotel for the several days after the tour was not very good, had mediocre service and not a good location. But for the tour, I would definitely recommend DenmarkBikeTours.
The self-guided cycling holiday in Denmark’s Zealand region was incredible. The flat, scenic routes were well-marked, taking me through charming coastal towns, lush countryside, and historic castles like Kronborg. The freedom to explore at my own pace was wonderful—I could linger in Copenhagen’s vibrant streets or enjoy a leisurely lunch at a cozy seaside café. The detailed itinerary and seamless logistics made the trip stress-free. This was the perfect blend of independence and Danish hospitality!
