As you pedal through the Sundewitt peninsula, the quiet countryside unfolds in wide-open fields and wooded trails. The timeless elegance of Sandbjerg Castle and the cozy harbor towns along the way are just a glimpse of what awaits.

The iconic crossing of the Little Belt is a highlight of the journey, offering spectacular views of the strait and surrounding landscapes.

And if you have extra time on their hands and wish to extend their adventure, there’s an option to spend an extra day in Odense. This vibrant city, known for its connection to Hans Christian Andersen, offers a mix of historic sites, lively streets, and cultural gems that invite exploration at a slower pace.

Top Places You'll See

From natural wonders to authentic local culture, the route is packed with memorable sights—these are our absolute favorites.

Odense (Hans Christian Andersen’s hometown) image 1

Odense (Hans Christian Andersen’s hometown)

Located on the island of Funen, Odense is the birthplace of fairy-tale writer Hans Christian Andersen. The city celebrates his legacy with museums and charming old streets that inspired his stories. Odense also blends culture with cycling, offering plenty of bike paths through parks, along rivers, and into its historic core.

Middelfart & the Little Belt Bridge image 1

Middelfart & the Little Belt Bridge

On the western edge of Funen lies Middelfart, overlooking the strait of the Little Belt. The town is known for whale-watching, but cyclists come for the views across the bridges connecting Funen and Jutland. Riding here offers a mix of maritime scenery and modern engineering.

Faaborg image 1

Faaborg

This coastal town is a gateway to the archipelago and one of Denmark’s prettiest small towns. Its old quarter has narrow streets and colorful houses, while the harbor buzzes with island ferries and fishing boats. From here, you can cycle into rolling countryside or out along the coast for sweeping sea views.

Sonderborg image 1

Sonderborg

Sønderborg lies on the island of Als, close to the German border, and is a gateway to South Jutland’s coastal landscapes. The centerpiece is Sønderborg Castle, originally built in the 12th century and later expanded into a Renaissance residence, now housing a museum of regional history. The town’s waterfront has been revitalized with modern architecture by Bjarke Ingels Group, blending history with contemporary design.

Christiansfeld image 1

Christiansfeld

Founded in 1773 by the Moravian Church, Christiansfeld is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Denmark’s best-preserved planned towns. Its grid layout, yellow brick houses, and communal buildings reflect the ideals of harmony and simplicity central to the Moravian settlement. The town is also famous for its honey cakes, a tradition carried on since the 18th century.

Frequently Asked Questions

Set off on a self-guided cycling adventure, crafted for a personalized and flexible experience on two wheels. Discover wonders at your leisure, with the liberty to modify your route or itinerary as you wish. Our committed team meticulously takes care of all aspects, including accommodation arrangements, comprehensive planning, GPS navigation assistance, and ongoing support, to ensure a peaceful and captivating trip. This journey celebrates independence, personal discovery, and authentic cultural encounters.

Our tours are divided into three levels of difficulty: Leisurely, Moderate, and Challenging, defined by the typical daily itinerary, though there can be variations in challenge during the trip.

Leisurely tours are perfect for those looking for a relaxed journey amidst beautiful landscapes, without the need for long-distance cycling or navigating difficult terrains. Typically, these tours cover 30-50 km per day, with an elevation gain of up to 500m. This allows for numerous opportunities to enjoy the scenery, sample local cuisine, and visit quaint villages and towns along the route.

Moderate bike tours cater to those who desire a combination of picturesque routes and a bit of a challenge. Covering 50-80 km per day with an elevation gain of up to 1000m, these tours take you through beautiful landscapes and charming villages, featuring both flat and hilly terrains. They provide plenty of chances for exploration and also offer a rewarding cycling experience.

Challenging bike tours are designed for seasoned cyclists looking to challenge themselves. These tours cover 80-120 km daily with an elevation gain of up to 2000m and involve steep climbs and challenging routes. Suitable for those with a high level of fitness and stamina, they offer a sense of achievement and stunning views, making the effort worthwhile.

We are dedicated to finding the ideal match for your cycling journey. We work closely with a range of accommodation providers, all of whom adhere to our quality criteria, though their availability might change, particularly during high-demand seasons. Moreover, we offer the flexibility to customize your trip according to your personal tastes and budget, guaranteeing that we find the accommodation that best suits your needs.

We recommend booking your tour as soon as possible, particularly for sought-after tourist destinations where accommodation options are limited. Top choices tend to be reserved quickly, often getting fully booked for the summer season well before the arrival of spring.

In Denmark, accommodating specific dietary requirements can vary based on their intricacy. While vegetarian options are generally easy to find, locating vegan meals might pose challenges in rural areas or smaller towns. Keep in mind that lunch breaks usually take place at traditional restaurants, which may have limited capacity to cater to special dietary needs beyond their regular menu. Please take this into account when organizing your cycling tour in Denmark.

In Denmark, the ideal cycling season runs from mid-April to mid-October. However, for elevated regions like the mountains, it’s advisable to schedule your cycling expeditions from mid-May to September.

In Denmark, cycling tours can be enjoyed in light rain, given you have the right clothing. During the summer months, afternoon thunderstorms are common, so it’s recommended to start your tours early in the day. If challenging weather conditions are expected, we will make every effort to adjust the tour schedule accordingly.

On cycling trips, luggage transfer allows you to ride without carrying heavy bags. Each morning, you leave your luggage at the designated spot—often the hotel reception—and it’s transported to your next overnight stop. Your bags are usually waiting for you when you arrive. Weight limits and pickup times can vary slightly depending on the service provider.

I found this place with a simple Google search, and I never could’ve expected the custom experience I received. They provided options to help my husband and I hone in on exactly what we wanted to do for our honeymoon. We had perfectly curated GPS-lead rides all across the country, they booked all of our hotels, and planned all of our transportation. Every place that we went was so beautiful. I’m so grateful that we found this company to help us plan our honeymoon, couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

I was able to tailor a bike tour itinerary along the Adriatic coast that suited our group during the shoulder season. We added individual pre and post-trip activities which went smoothly. Our trip included stops in Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. The trip planner, guide and support team were great.

I would highly recommend anyone doing this tour take the e-bike option. There were only 3 of us on our tour who completed this on regular bikes. Four others who started out on regular bikes swapped over to e-bikes after the first day. The climbs are long and steep. There is pretty much only up or down, not much flat or undulating road. It is doable, but very challenging. If you are on an e-bike then this also helps with the group staying together and no-one having to wait too long for others to catch up. The bikes were really good and had great gearing that was capable of handling the steeper climbs. When we booked we were unaware that we would be riding in a group of 20plus at all time. Thankfully our group had prior group riding experience but we did observe other large groups with less than desirable riding behaviours.Others in our group were extremely understanding and supportive. Our guide, David, was very adamant about staying safe on the road. He was flexible with the itinerary and made changes to suit the weather conditions and to ensure we got in as much riding as possible. He was vey knowledgeable about Croatian history and agriculture and taught us lots about the country he is so passionate about. Our captain, Tolma, was also amazing and along with his awesome crew, made our cruise an enjoyable experience.

Highly recommend the bike trip from Bled to Pula. It was well planned. We did a small group self-supported. Big fun. Bikes, hotels, route selection and communication with the company was great.
