One 3-star hotel in central Copenhagen for all six nights, with a private en-suite room and breakfast, a short walk from Copenhagen Central Station.

This Copenhagen bike tour keeps you in the same hotel room for all six nights. Three of the five rides are loops from the hotel door. On the other two you ride north along the coast and come back by train, bike on board. Each day shows a different side of Zealand, from deer forest and lake country to the Danish Riviera.

Copenhagen's main streets have cycle tracks of their own, and signed routes lead straight out of the city to beech forest, beach and fishing harbor. North of the suburbs lies the par force hunting landscape, where Danish kings chased deer with packs of hounds in the 1700s. UNESCO listed it in 2015, and its Hermitage lodge, built in 1734–36, still stands on a clearing in the deer forest. Further north are three royal castles in one day: Frederiksborg, Fredensborg and Kronborg.

The rides follow cycle paths and quiet lanes, and the two one-way days run north beside the Øresund. Every ride starts at the same hotel, which lets you swap days around the weather or the museums you want to see.

Your bikes are delivered to the hotel on arrival and collected on the last morning. A digital guidebook with GPS routes and our support number comes with the tour.

If you would rather change towns each night, The Best of Royal Zealand covers the same island hotel by hotel. Otherwise, pick your week and we will set up your Copenhagen cycling holiday.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. You keep the same room in central Copenhagen for all six nights, so no luggage moves anywhere. Three rides are loops from the hotel, and the two one-way days end at a train station.

Two rides use the train. You buy the tickets in the DSB or DOT app before boarding:

  • Day 4: S-train from Copenhagen Central Station to Hillerød, coastal train back from Helsingør

  • Day 6: coastal train back from Humlebæk

Bikes ride free on the S-train. On the coastal train they are free outside weekday rush hours, 6–9 and 15–18.

It is busy, and it follows rules. Weekday rush hours, 7–9 and 15–18, fill the city's cycle tracks with commuters, so start your rides after 9:00.

Keep right, raise a hand before you stop and turn left in two steps. Once you leave the city, the routes follow signed cycle paths and quiet lanes.

Entrance fees are not included: you pay for castles and museums on the spot, so you choose what to visit. Visitors under 18 enter Kronborg, Frederiksborg Castle and Louisiana for free.

Not for the distance. The tour is graded 2 of 5 for fitness: flat day rides that suit a trekking bike. An e-bike helps against the coastal wind and on the royal castles day, the hilliest of the five. One fully charged battery covers any single ride.

Yes. Extra nights in the same hotel are easy to add, for a museum day or a canal tour without the bike. Malmö in Sweden is a short train ride away; bring your passport.

A sixth ride is possible too: a morning train to Roskilde for the Viking Ship Museum and the cathedral, then a ride back to Copenhagen with the west wind. Send us your request and we'll add it.

Typically, these tours cover 30-50 km per day, with an elevation gain of up to 500m. This allows for numerous opportunities to enjoy the scenery, sample local cuisine, and visit quaint villages and towns along the route.

Moderate bike tours cater to those who desire a combination of picturesque routes and a bit of a challenge. They provide plenty of chances for exploration and also offer a rewarding cycling experience.

Challenging bike tours are designed for seasoned cyclists looking to challenge themselves.
